When you think of recycling, is it a momentary whim or a thought that’s part of a committed perspective in your every day life? Positive change will only happen when committed people take action that produces long term effect. If we stop at simply throwing a can or bottle, we miss out on being the blessing to our fellow men and women and generations to come. Think of some non-profit you believe in, then apply your zeal for recycling to multi-task and achieve 2 great results. You make a difference to the globe, keeping waste out of the dumps and you raise money for your non-profit, it’s a no-brainer. That is exactly what was going on this week at Saddleback Church as part of the annual Celebrate Recovery Summit. Used cans and bottles were collected from the 3000 participants attending the Summit and the proceeds will provide CR Bibles or CR Curriculum materials for Inmates all over the country and eventually all over the globe. It was started by CR ministry and volunteers, who care about people, the planet and the prisoners this will serve. It is implemented by volunteers, people like you, who have a heart for other people, serving and in this case, bringing help to prisoners who desperately need what these volunteers efforts provide.
Step out of the boat today, slip on a pair of gloves and pull that can or bottle out of the trash and throw it into the recycling can. Or better yet, put together some friends or anyone who will stand up beside you and organize a recycling fund raiser for your non-profit. Did I tell you?? Every year, enough aluminum cans are thrown into our landfills and dumps to re-build the entire U.S. air fleet 4 times a year….
